SHARE by night: new artists added

SHARE Conference adds new artists to the night programme line-up, including Actress, Redshape and Roska

Bturn presents: Actress (live)
In the last 5 years of running the Werk label, Actress, a.k.a Darren J. Cunningham set himself apart as one of the hottest A&R scouts within his field, having discovered and released some of the most widely talked about artists of the emerging bass generation, namely Disrupt, Zomby, Lukid and Starkey. As Actress he has produced the exceptional and revered Hazyville album, drawing cries for a Mercury Award Nomination.

He’s remixed the too cool for school Various Production, written for the seminal techno imprint Soma and has recently confirmed an album deal to record on Honest Jons, the British Independent record label created and founded by Damon Albarn. Actress has performed stunning live shows at Fabric London and DJ’d alongside the likes of Juan Atkins, UR, Modeselektor, Radioactive Man, Dabrye, Kode 9 and Flying Lotus.

Bturn presents: Redshape (live)
Resident Advisor says: “We would tell you all about Redshape, but we don’t know who he actually is. He hides his real identity behind a red mask at all times, even wearing it onstage at his club dates around Europe, which of late there have been many. We do know the man behind the mask lives in Berlin, he does a rocking live act and he’s released half a dozen tracks over the last year or so on labels such as Delsin, Styrax Leaves and Music Man. We also can reveal he has studied a lot of old Detroit techno records: His sound is a new update on old school templates, and it’s getting a thorough rinsing by DJs as diverse as Laurent Garnier, Josh Wink, Âme and Cassy.”

Roska
Roska stands at the forefront of the strand of British rave music typically referred to as, “Funky”. Years of long days and nights beyond the eye of the raver, have pushed him toward perceived overnight success on the dancefloor, his records are played by DJs including Skream, Benga, Kode9, Joker and Diplo. However, Roska’s meteoric rise is owed to his unerring passion and work-rate, with some notable milestones along the way.

Ata
It all started rather humbly when he, still a boy, shared house with a GI who owned a vast collection of Kraftwerk, early Hip Hop and black dance music and who substantially widened his musical horizon. Frankfurt soon witnessed the fruits of that neighbourly education when Ata carried a boombox blasting out Grace Jones’ ‘Nightclubbing” – the writing on the wall.

Gerd Janson
Gerd Janson has been serving the hottest house and disco cuts at Frankfurt’s Robert Johnson where he has been hosting the Liquid club nights together with DJ heavyweight Thomas Hammann for the past few years. Without a doubt, he is one of the hottest talents on the German DJ circuit. The word has spread, and so he’s travelling a lot as a DJ now. And when not spinning records he’s known as a prolific music journalist writing for Groove magazine or Spex …, or he’s busy working at the Pentagon Recordstore in his hometown Darmstadt and as part of the staff for the Red Bull Music Academy. released a compilation of weirdo 80ies jams together with Jazzanova on Sonar Kollektiv and a DJ mix for his beloved Robert Johnson.

Guillaume & The Coutu Dumonts (live)
Ever an energetic actor in the electronic music scene, Montreal based artist Guillaume Coutu Dumont maintains numerous collaborative projects, performing regularly in his hometown and around the world. Driven by his passion for hybrid forms of musical expression, Guillaume continues on his quest for the ultimate ham bone funk recipe with his solo project: Guillaume & the Coutu Dumonts a special blend of funk, house, techno, gospel, swing and afro-beat. His first album Face A L’Est was released in 2007 on Musique Risqué and the second Breaking the Fourth Wall in May 2010 on the French imprint Circus Company. So far, his solo outputs are available on MUTEK_rec, Musique Risquée, Hartchef Discos, Floppy Funk, OSLO, Raum Musik and on French labels Circus company and Karat.
